Amitose DGA: A Novel Stable Vitamin C Formulation

Nowadays, beauty aficionados around the world are raving about another beauty secret – vitamin C. Yes, the vitamin that strengthens everyone’s immune system is now even more popular for its skincare and anti-aging benefits. With its ability to prevent wrinkles and brighten skin complexion, it comes as no surprise that this wonder antioxidant has made its way into every beauty enthusiast’s skincare regimen.

Skin Benefits of Vitamin C

Having the right amount of vitamin C in your system helps keep your skin healthy, supple and glowing.

High concentrations of vitamin C support certain functions relevant to maintaining healthy skin such as:

Boosting skin elasticity

Vitamin C is known to promote the formation of collagen, a protein in the body that increases skin elasticity.

Protecting against age-related skin damage

Free radicals are associated with age-related skin damage. With more free radicals than can be balanced by antioxidants, these free radicals can damage DNA, fatty tissue and proteins. As a potent antioxidant, vitamin C can neutralise and eliminate free radicals.

Protecting against photoaging and UV damage

UV exposure can lead to sunburn, hyperpigmentation, skin sagging and wrinkles. Topical application of vitamin C can reduce UV-related skin problems.

A Novel Vitamin C Formulation

Despite its many benefits, it is a challenge for topical vitamin C to penetrate into the lower layers of the skin. Another problem with vitamin C is its instability when used in solutions and emulsions. Due to this, topical vitamin C products tend to degrade easily, which leads to discoloration and an unpleasant smell.

To address these problems and improve the stability of vitamin C, a novel vitamin C formulation called amitose DGA (bis-glyceryl ascorbate) has been developed. Amitose DGA is a stable vitamin C derivative with excellent moisturizing effects. It has high water retaining effects, which helps to increase the amount of vitamin C the skin absorbs. At the same time, it revitalizes the skin’s natural barrier function. Amitose DGA is non-ionic, which ensures that it has higher permeability and stability compared to other formulations.
